In 1971, a group of families in River Falls came together searching for a church body that taught what is in the Bible, nothing more and nothing less. They found these teachings in the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod, or WELS. An area WELS pastor agreed to start exploratory services. They rented and had services in the International Organization of Odd Fellows Hall from September 1971 until January 1975.
A lot happened during those interim years. "Faith" was chosen for the name. WELS mission status was granted. Property was purchased, and the church and parsonage were built. Faith became the WELS Campus Ministry church for the University of Wisconsin, River Falls. Members continued to grow in their faith and love for the Lord and each other.
In 2002, Children of Faith Preschool was established. Children absorb so much at that age. You are never too young to learn that Jesus loves you! What a joy it is to watch the children grow and share their love for Jesus.
Many pastors have served Faith throughout the years. Even during pastoral vacancies, the Lord has provided. The members of Faith are brothers and sisters in Christ, a true church family. We would love for you to join our family!
Faith Lutheran Church continues to preach and teach God's Word in its truth and purity. We believe the 66 books of the Bible are the inspired Word of God. We believe in the Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe all humankind is dead in sin, and the only way to be saved is through the perfect life of Jesus and his death on the cross. His resurrection on Easter Day is the hope we have of eternal life in heaven.
Jesus commanded us to go into all the world and preach this Good News of salvation. Through the Holy Spirit, faith comes after hearing and believing this message. There is nothing we, ourselves, can do to be saved. It is a gift from God.
